As a small business owner, and founder…

As a small business owner, and founder of Bloominari.com, a digital marketing agency helping small businesses to grow their companies online through beautiful design, automation and marketing tactics I was in search of the best CRM and marketing automation software for a truly affordable price. After literally about 2 months of research of various CRM and marketing automation platforms I finally decided to take AgileCRM for a spin (It was easy to try it, as they have an always-free lite version). Immediately I fell in love with it’s interface, ease of use, and easy-to-setup platform. I previously worked with Salesforce.com and Solve360 CRMS, and have also tried BaseCRM, SugarCRM and many others throughout my business life. Super affordable for the amount of tools, features and applications it includes. Starting at $10/user/month for it’s starter version. – Great user interface – Easy to setup and use – Lots of native integrations with lots of web-based (Saas) apps such as Gmail, Quickbooks, Twilio and many many others. Integration with Zapier, which basically let’s you now integrate AgileCRM with 700+ other web apps, so this feature was a KEY for me. – All your emails automatically load from your Gmail inside AgileCRM, no need to BCC some email address. Lots of sales, marketing, support, landing page, and amazing features added on at no additional cost. – Now you can purchase add-ons such as user permissions, triggers, additional automation campaigns and others without having to upgrade all your users to the next subscription level (this is something I requested, and their team listened and did implement this). Their tech support is great, they care, they listen, and they modify/improve their system based on your feedback – Their team update the app every few days Their standard subscription is $30/user/month if pre-paid for 2 years, otherwise $50/month, without too many added benefits for this level – Their starter subscription limits your marketing campaigns (automation) to only 5 campaigns, with 10 nodes (steps) on each. The standard gives you 10 campaigns, with 25 nodes each (much better). Some updates happen without prior notifications to the user, and sometimes changes the User interface too drastically for some features. – Their E-mail templates are limited, but you can still bring in your HTML templates or use their WYSIWYG editor. If you want to use an amazing CRM with marketing automation that has the tools and features of Infusionsoft or Salesforce, but don’t want to pay $400-500 per month Agile CRM is for you. I’m surprised their prices are still so affordable compared to how much they’re offering, and why users aren’t yet flocking to this system. It’s really amazing!

We have used a number of CRM’s over…

We have used a number of CRM’s over the past two years looking for a system that can help automate our marketing efforts and also be an easy central repository for addresses and contact details. We used to use Highrise which was too basic, and more of a contacts manager and then trialled Pipedrive and Onepage CRM. Although these products provided some of the user features we required they all had issues which necessitated finding another CRM. The vendor is responsive to support queries, and always replies very quickly. My least favourite part of this product is the new user interface they launched, it’s partly persona preference but I preferred the old UI. The vendor provided a link that lets me use the old UI but I am not sure how long this will be supported. It would also be useful to have the option of very basic accounts that literally provide address book access. We ended up using their API to push data to google shared contacts for users who don’t need the full CRM feature set. We would suggest that pleasure and ease of use is critical, if the system is not enjoyable to use it won’t be used or as effective. We would also suggest that the system can manage your sales pipeline in a way that makes sense for you and your sales process. From a CRM perspective it is critical to decide what you need to achieve from a CRM, is it an address book and clients notes system, an inbound lead and marketing solution or more. We would suggest that you also check the price is affordable as you scale, some solutions are very cost effective with a small number of users but as you increase the users the fees increase substantially.

Agile has been very easy to work…

Agile has been very easy to work with. They do not rush the implementation. They allow you to complete steps at your pace. This is wonderful since I am currently the only employee in HR department. The Performance Management program is fairly new. We requested a customized document and there have been some issues with set up but I am confident that the program will be a great tool for our company.

Editor’s Bottom Line of Agile CRM

Agile CRM is a very capable platform that manages to feel nimble while still offering a substantial range of services. This is partially attributable to their user interface – the layout offers, in this reviewer’s opinion, a nice visual balance of space and function. Dashboard modules – called dashlets – with snap views of contacts, activities, deals, the sales pipeline, etc. can be rearranged and resized. The default color scheme involves whites, grays, shades of blue and lavender, which is gentle on the eye, and this can be changed in Preferences>Theme and Layout. You can also alter the layout, which by default offers a vertical left panel bar but can be made collapsible or repositioned to a horizontal top-level bar.

Agile offers considerable functionality even in its free plan, which is available for up to 10 users. It offers normal contact, task, deal and opportunity management functions that you would normally expect from sales automation software. However, it also offers lead scoring and email tracking, an email template builder (also drag and drop) and branded emails, helpdesk capability and web-to-lead options such as popups or web forms. The limitations of the free version include the limit to one campaign workflow, one automation rule, one integration and 500 API calls per day (which refers to individual operations invoked by the client application; depending on how frequently you use the application in conjunction with your CRM, you may deplete your 500 daily calls rapidly). So regarding the free version, Agile offers impressive versatility – a wide range of functions, though not so much wiggle room for extensive use.

One notable restriction stands out to me – the limit of 5000 branded emails, after which you need to pay per email. In a midsize organization, 5000 is a fairly small number. A company that sends branded emails extensively will find their CRM costs higher than they expected.

Then again, you get what you pay for. When you upgrade to a subscription plan (from Starter to Enterprise), you gain more integrations, API calls, branded emails, campaign workflows and automation rules, not mention more in-depth functions like marketing automation, social media monitoring, and 2-way email integration. Companies whose employees use a lot of phone time would find use from the Enterprise plan, which includes 2-way telephony (also available with the Regular plan), post-call automation, automated voicemails, and call recording. The Regular and Enterprise plans both offer mobile marketing, while allows you to send personalized SMS for drip marketing, scheduled messaging, or for automatic responses to contact actions.

Note that Agile’s 2-way telephony integrates the CRM with a VoIP provider of your choosing, specifically SIP or hosted PBX.

While each increased plan adds functions and increases limits on usage, the Enterprise plan removes certain limits (campaign workflows and automation rules) and provides individualized support, such as an onboarding coach and a dedicated account rep.

Of course, at that point, it depends on your business needs and budget. The Enterprise plan costs $64.99 per user/month billed annually. On the other hand, If one-on-one onboarding and a dedicated account rep are important to you, then you might consider Infusionsoft, which requires purchase of an onboarding ‘kickstarter’ package that emphasizes a more ‘handheld’ approach.

Overall, I think Agile CRM is a solid choice for a small to midsize company whose needs are fairly balanced across the major communication channels – phone, email, social media – and has need of email marketing tools and online customer service. The best-valued plan, in my opinion, is the Regular plan. It provides the 2-way telephony, custom deal tracks and mobile marketing lacking from the Starter plan while also expanding its limits. It’s nice to have the dedicated account rep and onboarding coach in the Enterprise plan, not to mention the additional phone features, but if your company has both the need for such telephony tools and the size to afford its price point, you may find more affordable solutions elsewhere that are more customized to your business use case.
