Infusionsoft is a CRM solution designed…

Infusionsoft is a CRM solution designed for small businesses. It’s not the tool for enterprise or medium sized businesses needing more than 15 to 20 seats. Think of it as a MailChimp / Saleforce with an emailing workflow engine. It allow you to build email sequences that adjust the content you send based on what each contact does. That’s an over simplification, but at it’s core that what it does. It’s got a huge community of add on products supporting it. You can build membership sites with it. You can enable call centers with it. The application are numerous, but it is not a tool very everyone. There are times when its not a fit. Many business owners take it on expecting to configure it with minimal outside help. That is probably not a good idea. It’s like building your office network yourself following YouTube video instructions. You may get it done, but not without a lot of time and frustration. Even worse, when you are done, you may have made mistakes an experienced person would never do that keep you from making the best use of the tool especially in the long run. The tool has a lot of power. It enables you to automate email campaigns targeting each contact based on what you know about them. If they answer a question on a form, you can sent them one thing. If you learn they live in one state versus another, you can customize content to them. If they visit specific pages of your site and login many times into your membership site, you can change what they see. It has a huge amount of power. It’s not a do-it-yourself tool. Lot’s of people complain saying it’s too hard to use and too expensive. Infusionsoft is a complex piece of software. If a complete newbee could make it work perfectly on their own, it wouldn’t be able to provide you with all the feature it includes. I have seen Infusionsoft sold from the stage with promises that it’s a self-serve, DIY solution. Honestly, it is not. That’s why you have a very healthy Infusionsoft consultants and partners community servicing it. These consultants and partner focus on all aspects of the solution working to help business owners put the tool to good use. In my opinion, it’s best to buy Infusionsoft from an Infusionsoft Certified Partner. Make sure you properly vet your partner. It’s a piece of software like may other software systems. You need to find a consultant that matches your needs. It does require plenty of expertise to roll it out and put it to good use. A partner, and again I say one you have properly vetted, is the key to making it work in your business

I love the ease with which I can build…

I love the ease with which I can build an automated campaign – just drag and drop! It’s also great that it can integrate with almost anything. The customer service is superb. The company is super receptive to feedback, and over the course of my customer-ship has made multiple upgrades for the better. Because of its broad functionality, it can be pretty overwhelming to the newbie. There are also multiple ways to accomplish the same objective (adding tags to a contact, as an example), that it makes it difficult to train internally. We also have an eCommerce function that goes totally unused, because we’re not in the eCommerce business. I feel like it should be an optional add-on, really. From the first day of our product purchase, the Infusionsoft team made it clear that they were committed to our success. From the onboarding training, to their technical support, to their webinars – it’s easy to tell they care about their customers and have total belief in their product. We were able to learn what we needed to automate and integrate our business, and quit doing repetitive tasks manually. It’s opened up a world of integrations for us, and has been the catalyst to finding other software to complement and bolster our Infusionsoft tasks. Do your research about the software – it’s not for everyone, but it’s certainly working well for us.

As a small law office, I didn’t think I would need a robust solution like Infusionsoft. Wrong! I love the product! it has helped me keep in touch with my clients, announce new initiatives, track Facebook click-throughs (through a partner), stay current with my referral sources, and more. I even use it in conjunction with a scheduling system so that when my clients self-schedule their appointment, it is confirmed via email, and their records are automatically stored or updated in the CRM. Then as we complete the work, “campaigns” (the processes inside Infusionsoft) set tags, track progress, and notify internal staff of next steps. I’m not sure how I would live without it now! Robust, full featured email marketing system and more. Customer support is outstanding… I call, and I get a real person who knows the system, and answers! There are many excellent providers of third party apps for Infusionsoft, with a huge array of features. It is somewhat overwhelming, but, once you “get” how it works, creating new sequences and new campaigns is a relatively quick process. I’m not impressed with the native mobile app, which is very limited in function, but if you need access to contacts, they are there. Make full use of the Kick-start program (free) when you sign up. If you don’t “get it” within the first 30 days, look for a third party partner or Infusionsoft support to assist you. It has taken me almost a year to really get rolling, and I did end up hiring a provider to build-out some foundational campaigns, although I had useful things launched in a few weeks initially.

Infusionsoft is an AMAZING software and…

Infusionsoft is an AMAZING software and it has transformed my business. Since I’ve automated all my video production and promotion processes for my clients, I’m now positioned to serve hundreds of clients over the next few years and make a much bigger positive difference in their lives. Infusionsoft is such an absolute game changer. Customer support is very good and readily available, and I use it weekly to continue to build out and automate my systems. The app’s functionality allows me to streamline my services by automating the process. It does the work of a full-time project manager, and does it better and faster since it’s automated. They don’t call it “confusionsoft” for nothing. It’s confusing in many ways. But I think for an app with such robust functionality, it just can’t be totally obvious and simple because there are too many moving parts. It’s a complex software that has the ability to execute complex functions, which means it’s not going to necessarily be something you can just pick up and use without any training. I think the big area that could be improved is the Referral Partner Center. It seems exceptionally non-intuitive. The reason Infusionsoft has been so valuable for me is that I have a linear, sequential process for my services that lends itself to an automated approach, since it’s always thing #1, then thing #2, then thing #3, etc. If you also have a business built on a sequential repeatable process that requires several different staff members to work together in the same order over and over, Infusionsoft may be a gamechanger for you too.

I can easily take almost any sales or…

I can easily take almost any sales or marketing process and automate it. For example, if someone calls my office asking for more information, I ask them for their name, number and either an email address or physical address I can send the information to. I fill out one form with this information and InfusionSoft sends a series of emails and/or physical mail to the requestor. Then, in about 4 days, I get a notification to call them back and follow-up on the information I sent them. I don’t have to remember, because it does the thinking and follow-up for me. Also, I realized I was wasting about 1-2 hours everyday just sending people information, because I had to find the file, write an email/letter, attach the file/print the letter, and then send the email or mail the letter. Now the system does that for me, and I spend about 10 minutes a day sending information. Now I can focus on selling rather than prospecting, which I enjoy much more. The thing I don’t like very much is that I have to use a third party plug-in so my clients can set up appointments with me, which comes at an extra cost. I wish the software had that built in, but setting up the appointment software was pretty simple. Don’t think that InfusionSoft is only for people who sell stuff online. I provide consulting services and don’t sell anything online, and it has really helped automate a lot of simple time wasting activities for me. Also, their Kickstart services are pretty good. But if you really want to maximize your time with the consultant, then spend a few hours watching some of the webinars and try to build a simple campaign in the software. I did this and it really helped me get started quicker than most. If you’re going to invest the money into a system like this, then you might as well learn a little bit about it so you can start using it asap.

Editor’s Bottom Line of InfusionSoft

Infusionsoft offers comprehensive and fairly robust CRM capabilities when it comes to contact and lead management, scheduling, event monitoring, email marketing and reporting. Contact and lead management is intuitive but lacks features in comparison to Salesforce or ZohoCRM.

Infusionsoft has a highly customizable dashboard with widgets arrangeable in a drag-and-drop interface. This allows for users to see preferred information – contacts, tasks, pipeline updates, specific statistics – the moment they access the software. Another highly useful and customizable sub-dashboard is the ‘My Day’ view, which serves as a sort of daily planner with tasks and appointments in a left-hand widget with an open area on the right to draw up tasks in detail.

The convenient drag-and-drop interface shows up in other Infusionsoft features; the CRM’s email marketing interface, or “broadcasts”, also allows easy adaptability with the included templates. Images, text, video and social media buttons can all be arranged by dragging and dropping. While Infusionsoft doesn’t include a great many templates, it partially makes up for this by allowing them to be easily customized.

There are certainly CRM software options that edge out Infusionsoft when it comes to functionality and depth of CRM features – and they come at lower price points. This fact alone might prompt companies experienced with CRM to take a pass on Infusionsoft. Then again, those particular companies aren’t Infusionsoft’s target clientele, which are stated to be companies with 25 employees or fewer, inexperienced with CRM, yet would like to branch into digital sales and marketing.

Infusionsoft is transparent about their premium pricing; their goal is to implement their platform to produce the most success for their customers, and so their customers aren’t overwhelmed by the software. The mandatory Kickstart package seems less onerous to a business interested in branching into ecommerce without knowing how; the premium cost seems more reasonable when considered a consultancy fee.

Infusion further distinguishes itself as friendly for small businesses with its small, but growing, Marketplace. As of this time of writing, the Marketplace offers just shy of 500 apps, with almost as many free ones as paid. The apps integrate features like mobile messaging, automated schedule integration, and intelligent landing pages, or offer marketing campaign templates; apps are searchable by industry, service type, application type, region, and lifecycle marketing. Industries with the most specific apps are currently Advertising & Marketing, Real Estate Services, and Manufacturing or Construction.

The takeaway is that Infusionsoft is a straightforward CRM with the essential tools for sales and marketing automation. Its interface layout is intuitive and highly customizable, and there are enough email templates if you don’t need to get too creative. The software costs more than comparable CRMs, but with a mandatory, dedicated coach, you’d probably get more from your CRM faster than if you struck out alone. If you’re a small company with a limited online presence but you’d like to expand, and you’re willing to accept one-on-one guidance for a fee, then Infusionsoft just may be the CRM for you.
